Combatting loneliness
Loneliness and isolation is ever more present, especially in rural communities. For elderly and disabled people the cost of living may be making this worse.

Age Scotland offer a wealth of support for older people experiencing loneliness, which is different to being alone. 100,000 older people in Scotland feel lonely all or most of the time. 200,000 will go half a week without a visit or call from anyone - not great statistics.
Their helpline is a free, confidential phone service for older people, their carers and families in Scotland.
As we get older, we can face new challenges and opportunities. People may need to know about rights, organisations and services that are unfamiliar to them. Our skilled advisers provide information and advice on a range of topics. We also provide friendship for when people just need a friendly chat. It's free to call and available Monday - Friday 9-5pm on 0800 12 44 222.
With Age Scotland, people are not alone.
