Save Energy, Save Money
We’ve collated easy energy saving tips here for you to help people reduce their energy costs.
Turn things like TV’s, phone chargers, playstations, and computers off at the plug when not in use.
Get rid of drafts
Turn off lights when not using the room (this could save around £25 per year).
When bulbs are blown, replace them with LED bulbs to save more on lights.
Wash clothes at 30 degrees and do one less load a week if possible to save around £34 per year.
Dry clothes outside when possible and try not to use the dryer. (difficult in Highland climate, we know).
Use a shower instead of the bath and try to be quick.
Use only what is needed in the kitchen - overfilling the kettle or using the wrong size pan might be costing more. It adds up in the long-run.
Wait until the dishwasher / washing machine etc are full before turning them on.
Adjust settings:
Turn down hot water to 55 degrees
Set heating and water to a timer for when it’s needed.
What about heating? 1 degree can make a difference. But do make sure it’s over 18 degrees to stay healthy.
