Help from Energy Suppliers

Is someone struggling with debt on their gas and/or electricity account?

The first thing to do is check if the energy supplier can help. It is important to call them and see if it is possible to set up a payment plan or reduce monthly payments to help manage bills.

Some suppliers also have grants to help customers reduce debt and the worry that goes along with it. We’ve listed these below.

In general:

  • Support with energy debts is paid as a credit to the energy supply account.

  • Applicants do not receive cash but could reduce the amount they owe and the amount of worry that comes with it.

  • Most companies ask that applicants get some money advice before applying.

    • These services are free.

    • They aim to help you improve your finances in general - not just your energy debt.
